Canoe Trip Equipment from Canadian Waters Outfitters

We believe that the canoe trip equipment we offer is unmatched by any outfitter in the canoe country. When you rent a tandem Kevlar canoe from Canadian Waters, you get a Kevlar ultra-light canoe that weighs between 39 lbs. and 42 lbs., NOT a Kevlar Flex Core that weighs between 55 lbs. and 63 lbs. or a fiberglass Columbia that weighs 60 lbs. Our packs are made by Granite Gear, and every pack we rent is equipped with padded shoulder straps, padded hip straps and sternum straps. The hip and sternum straps are especially nice for smaller people such as women and youths as they make carrying the pack much easier. Unlike most outfitters who still use the old style Eureka tents, we only use tents manufactured by Alps Mountaineering. All of our tents are freestanding, have 2 doors, are well-ventilated and easy to set up. We are the only outfitter that packs all our food supplies in U.S. Forest Service recommended bear-proof barrels with padded shoulder straps and comfortable hip straps. This eliminates the need to hang your food at night. Our sleeping bags are made by Slumberjack and are filled with Quallofill. They are washed after every use and are the most compressible synthetic sleeping bags on the market. Our Coleman Peak 1 Max Xpedition two- burner stoves are the safest, most compact two-burner stoves available. Folded, they fit in a piece of 4” diameter plastic pipe.

Our Canoe Trip Meals

Since there are no stores in the BWCAW or Quetico Park we take great care to be sure you have everything you need. Our menus are based on over 50 years of experience in the outfitting business and we use only the finest fresh and freeze-dried foods available. We use freeze-dried food from Cache Lake Foods which is a Minnesota based Company that has considerably larger portions than some of the other food companies out there. If you have special dietary concerns or would like some additional items that are not on our menu, just let us know ahead of time and we will be happy to “go shopping” for those items you would like to add or substitute. Naturally, there is No Extra Charge for this service for our complete outfitting customers.
